In every story, the journey the hero commences on makes them unique compared to the other characters in the story. The hero is the main person that grows, changes, and gains new perspective throughout the story while their sibling on the other hand, does not. In the stories, SonnyÃ¢â¬â¢s Blues by James Baldwin and The Garden Party by Katherine Mansfield, the characters Sonny and Laure are two different types of hero archetypes. Sonny is the hero of the absurd while Laura follows Joseph CampbellÃ¢â¬â¢s hero arc. The stories are extremely different but the one element they have in common is that Sonny and LauraÃ¢â¬â¢s journey causes them to have a different outlook from their siblings, the Narrator and Laurie. Sonny and the Narrator are mostly different,Ã¢â¬ ¦show more contentÃ¢â¬ ¦The Narrator does not realize that despite Sonny being a heroin addict, he was always trying to pursue his main goal in life, which was being a musician. The Narrator always ignores SonnyÃ¢â¬â¢s po sitive qualities such as being hard working and determined to focus on the negative qualities. In his eyes the negative qualities he sees is Sonny being an addict, skipping college classes, and running away from home to join the army. However, when the Narrator sees Sonny play for the first time in the jazz club, it makes the Narrator see Sonny in a whole new light, for who he truly is. Ã¢â¬Å"And Sonny went all the way back, he really began with the spare, flat statement of the opening phase of the song. Then he began to make it his. It was very beautiful because it wasnÃ¢â¬â¢t hurried and it was no longer a lament. I seemed to hear with what burning he had made his with what burning we had yet to make it ours, how we could cease lamenting.Ã¢â¬ (Baldwin 49). Sonny reaches accomplishment by becoming musician like he had always wanted. However, in the story if the NarratorÃ¢â¬â¢s dream after the army was to become a high school teacher or not since we do not know much about his character. He makes the reader focus way too much on Sonny to the point where the reader does not know who he truly is as a character. What you have to remember is that this is in no sense a human that was raised in the wild and has adapted animal traits. This thing doesn't look anything like a human. Its physical features are that it has the head of a horse, large bat-like wings, huge claws, horns growing out of its head, and roughly a four foot long serpentine body. Understanding the Court System - Essay Example This paper endeavors to help in understanding the United States of America court system. To achieve this, the paper will discuss the case of Riley v. California heard in the Supreme Court. The Supreme Court determination in this case considered two individual cases. Both cases involved cell phone searches during arrest without a warrant of search. One case involved David Leon Riley stopped in San Diego by a police officer in 2009 for having expired car registration tags (Harvard Law Review, 2014). The police towed the vehicle and searched it. During the search, they discovered two handguns hidden under the boot of his car. The police seized his phone without warrant and searched it. The phone records showed that Riley was part of a gang known as the Lincoln Park gang the evidence from the phone also placed him at a crime scene three weeks before and his made the prosecution used this evidence to build a case of assault and attempted murder against Riley (Harvard Law Review, 2014). During the trial, the judge upheld that the evidence from RileyÃ¢â¬â¢s Smartphone was admissible because it fell under the exceptions provided by search-incident-to-arrest provisions. The trial led to the conviction of Riley and the California court of appeal upheld this ruling (Harvard Law Review, 2014). The second case involved Brima Wurie arrested by a police officer who observed him participating in drug trade. During the arrest, the police officers confiscated two mobile phones from him (Harvard Law Review, 2014). After searching the call log, they determined the location of a caller and traced it to a location where they seized drugs, firearms and cash. The prosecution charged Wurie with drug and firearm possession. The district court declined to declare the evidence from the mobile phone as inadmissible since the police acquired it without a warrant. However, the first circuit court overturned the decision by the district court citing that mobile
